PROJECT: FACADE RESTORATION
CLIENT: ANNUNCIATION CATHOLIC CHURCH
LOCATION: HOUSTON, TEXAS
Annunciation Catholic Church has been a fixture of downtown Houston since its founding in 1839. In 1881, Nicholas Clayton designed the current bell tower and steeple, completed in 1884. In 2008, a five-year restoration of Annunciation Catholic Church commenced, which included the following major projects:
2008: Develop a plan to address the settlement of the tower
2009-2010: Stabilize and raise the tower
2011-2012: Restore the century-old stained glass windows; restore the steeple and facade; new gold leafing of the cross on the steeple.
The entire restoration was done to ensure that Annunciation Catholic Church would continue to be a beautiful part of downtown Houston for many years to come. The project was recognized with a Good Brick Award from Preservation Houston.
